Holy Processions in Sorrento

1. Honestly Easter is a very good time to visit Sorrento mainly for couple reasons..first of all will be just the begging of our summer season working so many structures as hotels ,restaurants and bars will be open after a pretty long rest during the winter months..the weather usually starts getting much better and it’ll not too busy and grazy as could be definetly in the hot summer ..last but not least reason are the Holy Procession hosted in Sorrento during the easter time. We do have a very old Procession which carry along the streets of Sorrento symbol of the Passion of Jesus involving hundreds of people;the White Procession starts approx. by 3 am on Good Friday ,all members will dress in white it recalls the route  taken by the Virgin Mary looking for  her soon Jesus who was sentenced to deadth,as well  as the key of moments of the passion. The Black Procession starts by 9pm approx  Good Friday,all members will dress in black…it rapresents the time when our Virgin Mary found her soon death.The origins of the religious festival dates back to 1550 andover the centuries have become the mop
2. st popular shades.During the Spanish Viceroyalty were enriched with colors ,lights flags and symbols of the brotherhoods of the Mysteries ,its the station of the cross.
3. The Procession is preceded by a band intoning the notes of the most famous funeral marches and it is accompanie by intoning the Miserere(that id David’s salm) sung by a very big chorus interpreting the role of the repented people.
